Top 5 TCE Moments of 2011 – #2 “528 is Alive!”

Posted: 31st December 2011 by Tom Cashman in Uncategorized

When I got the call from Discmakers that my CD’s were completed, it was as if the fire alarm went off at work.  I grabbed my keys and shot out the door towards Pennsauken, NJ.

With GPS on my phone, I made sure to turn the radio off so I could hear the chick witht he English accent direct me to the place that I have been wanting to go my whole life – the place that printed my own CD.

When I got there, it was a nice clean lobby and I walked up confidently to the counter, as if to exude an “artist” demeanor – hahaha.  She looked at my paper with the order # and directed me to the pickup area.  When I got there, I was buzzed in and was handed a box.  While still in the loading area, I ripped the box open and there they were – 300 CD’s with my name on it.

It was finally here and from this point forward, it will never be taken from me.  So proud of this and my friends for helping me get this off the ground.

One more top moment of 2011 – what could it be????

Top 5 TCE Moments of 2011 – #3 “The Unveiling”

Posted: 29th December 2011 by Tom Cashman in Uncategorized

I could barely contain my excitement when “528” was completed.  When I had the final master in my car, I played it as loud as I could with all the windows down – and this was during a cold March.    The tough part was having to wait until almost a month later when I had a private release party with the family and the band.

We gathered everyone in the living room and put the CD on.    After a brief intro thanking everyone, it was time to officially throw our hats into the ring.  528 was alive.

Only two moments left… oh what could they be…  stay tuned and Thank You for your support!

Top 5 TCE Moments of 2011 – #4 “Puck”

TCE @ Puck - August 19, 2011

TCE @ Puck - August 19, 2011

I played Puck as a drummer for Rich, then took Leigh Ann here on our first date.

When I wanted to book a show there, I was hesitant because of the talented musicians that played that room.

Ultimately, I made the call because I had faith in these guys to be ready and we would bring our own peeps there.  What started as a request to open became a headlining gig and it was definitely a great moment for us.  To look out into the room from the stage is such a rush, but for it to be in this place, with so much personal history, it was one of those things I will never forget.

Stay Tuned for the top 3 moments of 2011…

Top 5 TCE Moments of 2011 – #5 “What is Phil Doing?”

Posted: 22nd December 2011 by Tom Cashman in Friends, Music

After laying down most of the rhythm tracks on 6 songs, Ray was out doing some lead work and we were piled into the control room.  As I look around, I see that no one is paying attention, but on their phones or laptops.

I said, “What the hell are you guys doing???” and this is the responses I received:

Frank:  ”School”

Shawn:  ”Work”

Phil: “I’m playin Angry Birds!”

Gotta love ‘em rednecks…    Check back for #1-4 over the next few days!

Thanks for reading!

Thank You For a Great 2011!

Posted: 5th December 2011 by Tom Cashman in Uncategorized

I call 2010 a rebuilding year – and it certainly was.  New everything, including a new outlook on life.  Then came 2011 – the year for new growth.

2011 started with a new home, a new band, and a fresh musical mission and purpose – to play with great musicians and to record a CD.

As “528” took shape, it began to just feel right, like I was finally doing what I was supposed to be doing my entire life – not music per se – but creating art.

Once the mixing and mastering was completed by Pier Giacalone at Hopetown, I finally had in my hands the one thing that will never be taken from me – not even when I’m gone.   A legacy.

In May of 2011, I successfully pulled a masterful marriage proposal and will marry my sweetheart on 9/21/12.

In August, I played Puck – the place where I remember seeing Mike Pfeiffer and Rich Cashman 2 years prior, which set my musical mission ablaze.  I took Leigh Ann there last January during our first date.  Circle completed.

November saw TCE and my cover band, Lost Pint, play the same venue… like Clark Kent opening for Superman – it was glorious.

Finally, I returned to Hopetown once again this past weekend.  Same vibe, same appreciation for the little things.  Music is powerful.  More powerful than anything else in this world.

Because it is the brush and the color and the canvas.  All controlled by the artist.

Thank you for a great year – and 2012…  There is still time left in 2011 to enjoy!  So I’ll just do that!

Love – Thanks – 528

You’ve Been Visited Three Times…

Posted: 16th November 2011 by Tom Cashman in Uncategorized

The first time I got to introduce my songs to the world, was May 14th – the Release Party…  Still my favorite musical moment as I proposed to Leigh Ann on stage and forever burned that moment into the hearts of those that came.  The songs were new and I know what it’s like to see band when you don’t know their songs.  Still, it was magical.

Second Attention:  I asked Puck for a show to open up for another band, which turned into a headlining gig at a real club – damn.  I still don’t know how it got to that, but I was grateful.  Had the Dell Project and Sandy Mentals with me and all was good…  The people that saw us on 5/14 recognized most of the songs and most had the CD by then.  Great night but way too much pressure on a new band to run that gig.

The Third Hour:  Opening up for The Dell Project and my other band, Lost Pint.  No pressure, just play.  I could see people singing the words and getting into the songs which, to be honest, were mostly songs about dating Leigh Ann and the crystal clear vision I have of the world when I am with her.  I think it’s catching on – this whole 528 thing, but I’m still not sure if people are REALLY ready.

I’ve been flattered and suprised at the same time to be honest.  The people I thought would not be into the CD love it and keep telling me, which just floors me everytime.  There are a few that just don’t want to give it a listen, and I understand.  This message isn’t for everyone.  When you go beyond the words, it may hit you like a lightning bolt to your whole world.  But you need to move everything else aside first.

Just like Scrooge, The Wizard of Oz, and other great tales.  Sometimes, the answer has always been there, but you haven’t understood it enough to do anything with it.

The next train heads to Hopetown Sound on December 3rd.  An Acoustic rendition of all my songs – the way they were written.  I hope you’ll listen with your heart as much as your ears.

Love.Thanks.528

2 Upcoming Shows; Possible studio time in January.

Local Bands for a Local Cause: The Dell Project, Lost Pint, The Tom Cashman ExperienceHey all – looking forward to a great rest of the year with two TCE shows; one we get to play with 2 other great bands.

On November 12th, we’ll be opening up for The Dell Project and Lost Pint at the Local 22 IAFF Firefighters Union Hall.  It’s a cool place with a good vibe in Northern Liberties.  50% of the revenue will benefit the Local 22 Widow’s Fund, which is a great cause.  The Facebook event for this show has all of the details and I have physical tickets, if you need them, just email me (booking at tomcashman dot com).

On December 3rd, we’ll do an intimate set as part of Hopetown Sound’s Acoustic Concert Series.  Some of the artists who have played in the series are well known and their music is so good that it is a true honor to be part of the same program.  Hopetown Sound is where “528″ was recorded and if you haven’t gotten up there, I strongly suggest listening to music up there – what a vibe.  HT will create the event on Facebook, so you can just go to their page and “Like” them.

I hope to see you guys over the next two shows and have a great 4th quarter!

TC

p.s.  The guys are itching to record 2-3 of our newer songs.  Most likely we’ll just release them all as singles, but we think they could be great songs!  Stay tuned!

So, here we are – go time.  The TCE is ready and last I heard, The Dell Project is polished and ready to show their stuff.  It will be a great opening as The Sandy Mentals take the stage at 8PM, to get the crowd in a great mood.  Don’t forget – Doors open at 7 (physical doors, not the band).  $8 for 3 great bands!

Here is a map for Puck Live – Hope to see you all there!!!

Have you seen Google + yet? It’s pretty neat and clean (for now) without the constant barrage of surveys, Horoscopes and other useless nonsense. You only see things from people in your circles - friends, family, work contacts, music fans – you make separate circles and tailor your message just for them… You may only want to read things from your closest peeps, and G+ does a good job of this. Right it is invite only, but I have a link here that you can use to sign up if you want… All I ask is that you add me to your “Entertainers” circle :)

Bringing Back the Classics…

TC circa 2008

For you 2007-2008 TC followers, you remember the self-recorded song on SoundClick? I am bringing some of them back during the 8/19 show @ Puck. Rather than try to make a full-band song from them, I’ll be doing some of these by myself to keep the original intimacy there. Although my mind is no longer in those songs, I can still honor them, and hope you enjoy them! See you soon…
